Charley Zarry

I would not be who I am today without the mountain of support I have received from people in my life. I will be forever grateful to everyone who has been there for me and believed in me. Thank you to the committee for giving me this incredible opportunity and thank you to my parents who have always pushed me to do my best.

Living on Haida Gwaii is truly a unique experience. The support from the community and the opportunities we are given as youth are unmatched, and I feel extremely fortunate to have grown up here. I first heard about the Scholarship Foundation of the Pacific in elementary school, when students were still travelling to Hawaii. Since then, I have dreamed of one day having the chance to take a shot at it myself.

I cannot describe how much this opportunity means to me, or how grateful I am to have people who believe in me. Being recognized in such a significant way for the dedication and hard work I have put into my studies and extracurricular activities is an incredible feeling. I am deeply thankful for all of the people who have supported me throughout my high school journey and helped me get to where I am today.

I am determined to use my education to protect the environment and give back to the community that has shaped who I am today. I plan to study Environmental Sciences so that I can return to Haida Gwaii and help protect the beautiful islands I have been so fortunate to call home.

Thank you again,

Charley Zarry - recipient of the 2026 SFotP Scholarship
