Receiving this scholarship has truly changed my life. I come from a Syria where I grew up during war, and for many years, even the idea of going to school felt out of reach. As a young girl, I never imagined I would one day be attending university. There were times I didn’t think I would even finish elementary school.
Everything changed when I came to Haida Gwaii, my first safe home. It was here that I began to believe in possibility of a different future. When I learned about this scholarship opportunity, I applied with hope, but also with fear, thinking it might be too big of a dream. Receiving the award felt unbelievable. It meant someone saw potential in me, even when I doubted myself.
This scholarship has opened a door that I never thought would be open for me. It means more than just financial support-it meant someone believes in my dreams, my strengths, and my future. It's a chance not only to go to university, but to build a life where I can give back, grow, and support others like me.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Scholarship Foundation of the Pacific, and especially to Reta Rea. Your kindness and belief in me is something I will never forget. This is more than just an award- it is hope, opportunity, and a turning point for me and my family. Thank you for giving me the chance to chase a future I never thought was possible.
